How to Disguise Large Pores on the Face
Large pores on the face can make some people feel confident. Quoted from the official SK-II website, Dr. Naoki Miyamoto, a scientist and P&G researcher, explained that large pores could be due to sebum deposits.
Another reason for the appearance of these larger pores is the influence of gravity which causes the skin to become looser when we lie down at night. But don't worry too much because there are ways to reduce it.
Quoted from Teen Vogue, dermatologist Paul Jarrod Frank, M.D shares some tips to reduce pores that look large, such as:
1. Clean every day
"Daily cleansing and regular exfoliation is the best way to keep pores clean," says Dr. Frank. According to Dr. Frank, heat or steam is the best way to clean. Try rubbing a warm washcloth over your face before scrubbing your face.
You can clean it twice a day or once a day, but if you clean it once a day, choose a nighttime so that all the makeup residue and dirt are gone.
2. Add a scrub
"Incorporating scrubs into your skincare is also beneficial. Be careful not to exfoliate your skin excessively. Scrub once a week is fine," says Dr. Frank.
Also look for a gentle exfoliator. "Although exfoliation is important for clearing the skin of dead cells, it can cause irritation which can lead to swelling causing your pores to appear larger," adds Neal Schultz, M.D.
3. Apply primer with SPF
Always remember to wear sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. "UV and pollution cause free radicals that break down collagen and elastin in the skin, making the skin less tight and (making) the pores look bigger," says dermatologist Tsippora Shainhouse, M.D.
4. Use a retinoid cream
Either prescription or over the counter, retinoid creams will help increase skin cell turnover which makes pores brighter. You will notice smaller pores in a matter of weeks.
